SCROLL DOWN
This issue contains three scientific research papers that scrutinize different aspects of the problems facing Earth’s oceans today. The theme may sound depressing and hopeless, but the goal of these papers is to study the ecological harm done to the oceans and to offer probable solutions — a blink of light in these challenging times.
The editorial is structured into four chapters. The first two chapters are based on a single, extensive paper and are divided due to its length. Each chapter begins by outlining the current state of degradation and moves gradually toward a more optimistic outlook — focusing on how we might preserve marine ecosystems and mitigate the ongoing destruction of our waters. The chapters are also color-coded, with each hue reflecting the theme of the respective paper.
The footnotes begin at an angle during the sections that address the problems, then straighten as the narrative shifts toward solutions — visually representing the process of stabilization and recovery.
